FCCU Raises $6,500 for Great Plains Food Bank

04/27/2023

First Community Credit Union (FCCU) recently held fundraisers for their 2023 first quarter charity, Great Plains Food Bank (GPFB). Employees of FCCU choose a different cause each quarter to support by raising money and awareness. However, this year, Great Plains Food Bank and FCCU’s first quarter charity was chosen by its members. FCCU was able to raise $6,500 for this worthy cause.

Celebrating 40 years of hunger relief, the GFPB operates nine programs to recover and distribute food to combat hunger for children, seniors and those in rural communities. With help from volunteers and donors, their network of 200 partner food pantries, shelters and soup kitchens help to feed those in need across North Dakota and Clay County, Minnesota.

“Now more than ever our neighbors and our food pantries need support,” says Susan Long Swen, Event & Community Engagement Specialist for FCCU. She continues, “Unfortunately, many people struggle with food insecurity that we don’t even know about. We are proud to support the Great Plains Food Bank and have played a small part in the fight against hunger.”

Funds were raised through various means including FCCU Super Bowl Spirit Week, bake sales, a scavenger hunt, pizza parties and more. Other ways FCCU supported GPFB included food drives for local food pantries, and participating in Feed My Starving Children MobilePacks in Fargo and Grand Forks.

Thank you to all our FCCU members who voted for our first quarter charity cause focus and helped support Great Plains Food Bank!
