Living Out Our Core Values: Meet Keri

“Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.”- CS Lewis
Here at FCCU, integrity is vital. Keeping our members’ money and information safe and secure is highly important. So much, that integrity is one of our four core values.
While it’s important for each of us to show integrity, several staff members’ roles depend on it. One example is that of Keri Schall, BSA and Fraud Specialist. In her role, Keri ensures compliance with financial regulations, works to detect and prevent fraud, investigates suspicious activities, prepares reports and trains other staff on compliance and fraud prevention measures.
When asked about integrity in her role, Keri says “Integrity is essential as a credit union employee. We are responsible for handling sensitive information and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.” She goes on to say, “It is extremely important to maintain the trust of FCCU and members. Integrity ensures that I perform my duties honestly and ethically.”
“Integrity is the most valuable and respected quality of an employee.” Brian Tracy
“Having integrity builds trust with co-workers and members, enhances the reputation of the employee and the credit union, and fosters a positive environment to work in,” says Keri.
Beyond that, we believe an organization with integrity has a solid foundation of trust, reputation and ethical decision making which in turn fosters a positive environment. Chief Human Resources Officer, Amie Aesoph states, “We hire people that align with our core values so that we uphold the aforementioned characteristics our members expect from us. Integrity is a non-negotiable.”
“Integrity is making sure that the things you say and the things you do are in alignment.” – Katrina Mayer
How does Keri exemplify integrity in her role? Several key components for integrity include confidentiality, ethical decision-making, transparency and adherence to compliance requirements. Aesoph notes, “we work hard to follow through on our commitments to our members and to one another as co-workers. We seek to go above and beyond what is expected of us. “ Keri and Amie both point out great examples of living out integrity.
“Work hard to achieve integrity in your work and your relationships with the people you work with.”- Rebel Wilson
It’s important that leaders exemplify integrity in their actions and decisions. One thing Keri notes is that a great way to lead with integrity is to consistently practice honesty and responsibility. She goes on to say, “seeking feedback, valuing those around you and regularly reflecting on actions to determine if they fall within their beliefs and values both personally and professionally are all attributes of great leaders.”
“Integrity, the choice between what’s convenient and what’s right.”- Tony Dungy
In Keri’s role, members are often surprised when asked verification questions on the phone as they feel that they know the credit union employees well. Keri says, “The reality is that with enhanced technology it is becoming increasingly more difficult to determine someone’s identity without asking questions that seem unnecessary to the members.” She goes on to say, “I encourage everyone to be kind to the person asking you to verify your information, they truly are doing it to try and mitigate someone impersonating you. Answering a few questions up front can potentially stop terrible fraud from happening to you.”
“Being a person of integrity doesn’t mean being perfect. It means being authentic.” – Chuck Swindoll
Keri’s role is just one example of how important integrity is for all our employees to exemplify at FCCU. Thank you, Keri for living out our core value of integrity each day.
Aesoph said “If you are someone who puts your best effort into your work and are dedicated to achieving great results while maintaining the utmost level of integrity, we want you to consider joining our team.
