FCCU Raises $6,000 for Ronald McDonald and Sunshine Hospitality Homes
09/06/2023
FCCU recently held fundraisers for their 2023 second quarter charities, the Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Sunshine Hospitality Home. Each quarter FCCU employees choose different causes to support through raising money and awareness. Second quarter’s main focus was helping families with sick children get the support they need. In total, FCCU raised $6,000 total, with $2,000 each going to the Bismarck and Red River Valley Ronald McDonald Houses and the Sunshine Hospitality Home in Grand Forks.
The Ronald McDonald House and the Sunshine Hospitality Home provide a place of comfort for families who must travel when their kids need medical care. Families have a place to rest near medical facilities, receive care and support resources, and connect with other guest families. All provide temporary housing with private rooms; other services vary by location and may include:
- Full kitchen and stocked pantries
- Laundry facilities and supplies
- Open shared living spaces and play areas
- RMHC volunteers prepare a meal each evening and have baked goods available
The work of charities like the Ronald McDonald house has helped millions around the globe, including our own staff. Clay Greenwood, Risk Management Specialist, and his wife spent time in the Red River Valley Ronald McDonald House last fall. Reflecting on his time there, Greenwood says, “While my daughter was getting the best care possible, Ronald McDonald House provided a safe space for my wife and I. A place where we could care for each other and decompress from our daily stresses. A place for us to do the small things, that helped keep us sane.”
FCCU raised funds through various channels, including pop tab collection, an internal silent auction fundraiser, a grill out, and holding a Jeans Week for staff.
