Why did you choose the company that you work for?
I chose FCCU because I wanted to learn more about different industries. I’ve never worked with finance in any capacity, so I wanted to try something outside of my comfort zone and gain some new experiences!
What were some of the requirements for your internship?
Writing press releases and blog posts, creating designs for the electronic screens on the branch signs, helping with billboards and newspaper advertisements, designing various posters and other graphics.
What is your favorite part about your internship experience, so far?
Definitely the variety of things I get to work on! I have a broader background in writing, so it’s been great to be able to get more experience with graphic design and community engagement planning!
How did you find your internship?
I found it through Handshake.
What advice would you give a student who is in the process of applying to an internship?
Apply to anything that interests you or seems relevant to your career goals, even if you don’t think you’re qualified for it! I always think it’s better to apply for something and get rejected than not try for it at all. You never know if a company will think you’re a good fit even if you don’t fit the application description!
