Intern Spotlight: Meet Amanda

In the fall of 2020 we launched our internship program here at FCCU. This program was designed to give students in our communities an opportunity to learn, grow and gain valuable experience.

We recently sat down with one of our latest interns to hear about what her experience has been like so far.

Hometown: Pingree, ND

University and major: University of Jamestown in Accounting

Location of internship: Jamestown Administration Building

Internship title: Accounting Intern

Hobbies: Going to the lake, going to the gym, playing piano and hanging out with friends.

Why did you choose the company that you work for?

I had talked to another UJ student who spoke very highly of the internship program at FCCU. Along with that, FCCU aligned really well with my personal values.

What were some of the requirements for your internship?

A majority of my tasks are general accounting daily tasks. For example, I balance general ledger accounts, perform reconciliations and assist others with work in the accounting department.

What is your favorite part about your internship experience, so far?

My favorite part about my internship is learning what accounting looks like in the real world, outside of school.

How did you find your internship?

I was fortunate to find my internship with the help of Dr. Heidi Larson at the University of Jamestown.

What advice would you give a student who is In the process of applying to an internship?

Apply for as many as you can and if you get an interview, be honest and confident. You never know what great opportunity might come from it.
