FCCU Announces Safe and Homeless Shelters as Third Quarter Charity
07/30/2021
Employees of FCCU have announced they are raising money and collecting donations for local safe and homeless shelters and Salvation Army, their third quarter charity. Each quarter FCCU’s 250 employees choose an organization to support by raising money and awareness.
To support this cause, FCCU will be holding a sock drive to collect new socks of all sizes, at all FCCU branches. Clean, new socks are the most requested items in shelters. In fact, according to HanesBrands, people experiencing extreme poverty or homelessness often suffer from foot problems, walking an average of 10 miles a day. This puts more wear on socks in a week, than the average person does in a year. In addition to the sock drive, FCCU will also be hosting a variety of fundraisers at local branches to raise money for Salvation Army, as well as volunteering at local shelters when possible.
Funds raised throughout the quarter will go to benefit Salvation Army Centers across North Dakota and Minnesota. The Salvation Army offers many programs and services in addition to meals and helping those in need meet basic needs. Services vary by location, but examples include counseling, crisis intervention, rent and utility assistance and seasonal assistance.
