FCCU Raises $5,000 for Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center
07/30/2021
FCCU recently held fundraisers for their 2021 second quarter charity, the Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo, ND. Employees of FCCU choose a different organization each quarter to support by raising money and awareness. FCCU was able to raise $5000 for this organization, and of all funds will stay local to support family and patient programs, research and education.
The Sanford Roger Maris Canter Center has been around for more than 30 years and is one of the top cancer centers in the country. In addition to cancer care, the center also treats bleeding and clotting disorders and is a regional infusion site.
“It’s humbling to see the impact that a donation can make,” said Susan Long Swen, Event and Community Engagement Specialist with FCCU. Long Swen continued to share, “It’s amazing to see the work they are doing at the Roger Maris Center and we are proud to have been a part of the inaugural Roger Maris All-Star Week. We hope that our donation can help be a small part to help in lifting up local cancer survivors and in cancer research.”
Funds were raised through various means including a staff internal auction, Mother’s Day flower sales, potlucks, a pet photo contest and Friday jeans day. Many branches also participated and supported their local Relay for Life and Project Hope events. In addition, FCCU was an event sponsor for the Roger Maris All-Star week, where staff helped volunteer in golf tournaments and a community night. Held in June, this week honored the legacy of Roger Maris and is dedicated to local cancer patients, survivors and their loved ones.
