FCCU to Acquire Unity Bank Locations in Red Lake Falls and Mentor

07/01/2026

First Community Credit Union has entered into an agreement to acquire the Unity Bank locations in Red Lake Falls and Mentor, Minnesota, along with certain deposits and loans, pending regulatory approval.

This opportunity supports FCCU's continued growth in communities that share our strong agricultural roots and commitment to local relationships. By expanding into Red Lake Falls and Mentor, FCCU is strengthening its presence in Northern Minnesota while continuing to invest in the rural communities that are at the heart of who we are.

"We're excited about the opportunity to welcome these communities to FCCU," said Steve Schmitz, President and CEO. "Our focus has always been on building strong relationships, supporting local communities, and helping our members achieve their financial goals. This allows us to continue doing that while bringing the benefits of credit union membership to more people."

The addition of these locations reflects FCCU's long-term growth strategy and commitment to serving agricultural producers, local businesses, families, and communities throughout North Dakota and Minnesota. Just as importantly, it reinforces the cooperative values that have guided FCCU for more than 87 years.

As FCCU continues to grow, our commitment to our members remains unchanged. We remain focused on providing exceptional service, competitive products, and meaningful investments in the communities we serve.

"This growth is about more than adding locations," Schmitz said. "It's about building relationships, strengthening communities and creating opportunities for more people to experience the credit union difference. We're proud of where we've come from and excited about where we're going."

With the addition of Red Lake Falls and Mentor, FCCU will continue expanding its ability to serve members across North Dakota and Minnesota while staying true to the values that have defined the organization since its founding.

The transaction is expected to be completed prior to the end of 2026, subject to regulatory approval.

At FCCU, we believe life is better when communities thrive. We're excited to welcome new members, build new relationships, and continue strengthening the communities we call home.
