ALERT: MasterCard Scam

December 31, 2012

ALERT! FCCU has received calls from members that are getting calls from 895-458-7534 stating that the member’s MasterCard was locked. This is a scam. Remember you should never give out personal information on phone calls such as this. The number is for a bank in Missouri that has put out a release that this is a scam and to not share any information with them.

We were also informed of a text message scam where members received the following text message: ‘The credit union center alert. Your card has been DEACTIVATED please call 701-557-7936.’ This is also a scam. Please do not respond to communications such as this.

International Credit Union Day

October 7, 2012

Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives that provide an effective and viable alternative to for-profit financial institutions for more than 196 million members in 100 countries worldwide. They exist to serve their members, providing a safe place to save money and access affordable loans. During our 73 year history, FCCU has grown to be North Dakota’s largest credit union with 125 employees and 14 branches with a field of membership that covers approximately one third of the state.

Since 1948, International Credit Union Day has been celebrated annually on the third Thursday of October. Each year, the international event affords the opportunity to remember credit unions’ proud history and promote awareness of and support for the credit union difference. This year’s theme, “Members Matter Most,” celebrates what matters most to credit unions, our members! It also aligns cooperatively owned and controlled credit unions with the greater cooperative business sector and the United Nations, which is also celebrating 2012 as the International Year of Cooperatives.

Credit unions are recognized as a force for positive economic and social change and have provided significant value in both developed and emerging nations. International Credit Union Day is sponsored by World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU), the international trade association and development agency for credit unions worldwide, and numerous national credit union trade associations and federations around the world.

On Thursday, October 18, 2012, credit union members around the world will celebrate International Credit Union Day, an event to commemorate the credit union movement’s impact and achievements. In honor of this special day, FCCU invites its members and the whole community to an open house at each of our branch locations.
